  1. Sometimes you need to be gratuitously demeaning, especially with athletes. While Grunfeld was rarely a starter, he did play a lot of minutes, was a respected shooter, but was never nondescript or underwhelming. In fact, he was good enough to play on the gold medal winning 1976 Montreal Olympic team.

  2. The key word here is "NBA". We mentioned his prowess at Tennessee, but that, as well as his Olympic triumph, came BEFORE his NBA career. In the NBA, he averaged 7.4 points, mostly as a reserve. I call that "underwhelming"...
