Having attended a wedding in North Canton, I can speak from personal experience: Thar be a LOT of Jews there!

Also, there may be no better pre-wedding entertainment than a visit to the NFL Hall of Fame. Just something to keep in mind if you have upcoming nuptials.Yakovhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12121676613104229219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8706557382895216627.post-86656485101151391652012-10-19T08:46:28.467-04:002012-10-19T08:46:28.467-04:00What I meant in the above post (#2 in the thread) ...What I meant in the above post (#2 in the thread) is that, when you get down to it, hot dogs and corned beef are nothing to get excited about. One is the cheapest and least sophisticated kind of sausage available, and Americans don't do it very well anyway. Saying that the Coney Island dogs are the best in the world is akin to saying that American "cheese" is the best processed cheese-like product in the world.
And the other is just boiled beef with peppercorns. There aren't too many ways of corning the damn beef and New Yorkers are no better and no worse at it than anyone else. They only thing they excel it is stuffing about half a cow's worth between two slices of stale bread, giving it to a rude waiter to serve you and calling it fabulous.

As for pizza, deep dish is an abomination and nobody in the US comes close to the Italian originals anyway.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8706557382895216627.post-88376963818601173222012-10-19T08:06:21.625-04:002012-10-19T08:06:21.625-04:00I know you were being somewhat tongue-in-cheek, bu...I know you were being somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but I don't think there's a big Jewish community in Canton, OH. I happen to like the thinner NY variety but far be it from me to judge those who'd rather the deep dish. The hot dog selection is also quite good if you are fan of Chicago style hot dogs (which I am not).

Yes, bagels are better in New York, but they are also a local specialty. frugnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8706557382895216627.post-74584988953679602672012-10-18T11:46:41.238-04:002012-10-18T11:46:41.238-04:00I loved Chicago. It's ...I loved Chicago. The bagels? Less so...

It's not so much that you CAN'T find good pizza, corned beef, or hot dogs (admittedly, the only good Nathan's is the original on Coney Island. The rest is dreck) in other places. It's just that it's so EASY to find them in NYC.

In Atlanta there's good pizza in a few places but you have to look. Philly may have the best corned beef sandwich I've ever had, but that's one place in a sea of terribleness. New York? You can walk into almost any pizza place (or whatever) and know it's gonna be good.

That's what NYC has going for it.
Yakovhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12121676613104229219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8706557382895216627.post-27855288545510667482012-10-18T10:38:18.357-04:002012-10-18T10:38:18.357-04:00New Yorkers, I find, are world champions in taking...New Yorkers, I find, are world champions in taking the most mundane, tasteless and run-of-the-mill foodstuffs and assigning a mythical, and totally made-up, quality to it, which can only be achieved within the five boroughs.

A roll with a hole?
