Profile: Rebecca Black

Yes, we have her under "Musicians and Singers"... which somehow seems very, very wrong.

Jews in the News: Carimi is a Bear

Wisconsin's mammoth Jewish offensive tackle, Gabe Carimi, was taken by Chicago with the 29th pick in today's NFL Draft. Hopefully, a profile sooner rather than later...

Profile: Siegfried Marcus

It's not often that we get a suggestion of someone we never heard of and immediately say, "we must profile him!" (or her. Could be a her, I guess). Thanks, Ben from London!

Profile: Stella McCartney

So what terrible company am I talking about? Well, I can't reveal the name, but it is in telecommunications, their logo is red, and it rhymes with "Shmerizon Shmireless".

McCartney was also suggested by Miriam from Burbank.

Profile: Samm Levine

And here's Levine in Inglourious Basterds:

Levine was suggested by Michael from Sherman Oaks.

Profile: Maury Povich

So we finally profile Maury, some four years after Connie. Well, she is the less obvious Jew, that's for sure...

Maury was suggested by Jason from Vancouver.

Profile: Moe Berg

Don't look now, but we have enough spies for their own category!

Berg was suggested by Paul from Yardley, PA, Jerry from Boston, Fred from Herkimer County, NY, Yosef from Eilat, Michael from Maryland, as well as multiple-time returning suggesters Joe from Scranton and Bruce from Cambridge, IL.

Profile: Christopher Mintz-Plasse

"Year One" is one of those movies that looked promising on paper, but turned to be a terrible crapfest. But at least it gave us a good lead-in for this profile.

Mintz-Plasse was suggested by Esther from Canada.

Profile: Ed Sabol

No one suggested Ed, even with the recent Hall of Fame vote, but Dave from New York did suggest Ed's son Steve, who was also a major part of NFL Films. Steve is currently battling a brain tumor, our best wishes as he fights for recovery...

Profile: Norman Greenbaum

Yakov is spending Passover in sunny Buffalo, NY, so here is where I say... Happy Passover!

Settling the Score: Courtney Love

Thanks to commenter Julia for pointing out that Courtney Love's supposed Jewish roots were just a bunch of BS. (And yes, it checks out.) So down to "Not a Jew" she goes. Hooray!

Profile: Noah

Originally, this profile was going to be about Noah's possible rape by his son... But I decided to take the high road. Sort of.

Profile: Tony Gonzalez

Here's the story about Tony's father told by a surprising Jew, FOX's Jay Glazer:
His stepfather is Jewish, and he's the one who raised him. I remember that the first time I met him at the Pro Bowl, he said, "My son Tony" and I was in shock, haha. He's just this little Jewish guy, maybe 5-foot-7, who looks like Walter Mattheau. I said later, "Hey Tony, I met this crazy old Jewish guy who claims he's your dad." He said to me, "Wait, you hadn't met him yet?" He's my guy, he has awesome cookouts and is just a great dad.

Settling the Score: Boris Becker

David from Hartford comes through again, finding a quote from Boris Becker about his heritage. Originally we said that Becker's mother was a Czech Jew, but, according to him, "she is Catholic, like my father, but part of her family is Jewish." So our guess is that she does have some Jewish heritage, but that knocks Boris from an I of 2 to 1. Still "Barely a Jew", of course.

Settling the Score: Adrien Brody

Thanks to reader David from Hartford for pointing out that although Adrien Brody is 3/4 Jewish, he calls himself "Jewish AND Catholic". 3/4 Jews are usually an I of 4, but because of the split self-identification, we had to dock him a point and lower him to "Borderline Jew"...

Profile: Charl Schwartzel

“I like working with my hands. I like to sweat. There’s nothing like early mornings on the farm.” -- Charl Schwartzel

Yep... Not a Jew.

Schwartzel was suggested by Brian from Miami Beach, Lenny from New Jersey, Steven from Hollywood, FL, and Kevin from Niagara, Ontario.

Profile: Tony Curtis

We wrote this while in Las Vegas... And yes, people can actually bet on who the death montage anchor is gonna be. Absurd, but not as stupid as playing the card game War for money...

Curtis was suggested by Les from New York, Moishe from La Jolla, and John from Carlsbad, CA.
