Profle: Suzyn Waldman

We have a bunch of requests to profile another Yankees broadcaster, Michael Kay. But he is not Jewish... So Yakov went with Suzyn instead.

  1. I think you hit the nail on the head with this profile, because I generally feel the same way about her. Although I think it'd be nice to add that she may also be one of the few women on TV today who was hired purely because she was competent (as opposed to the usual route of picking good sideline reporters from a pool of former models and homecoming queen).

  2. John Sterling would actually be an interesting J or not J profile.....the intenet rumor that his real name is Harold Moskowitz and that he "hides" his Jewishness immensely (if true), that he supposedly for years had his bio as 10 years younger than he really is.

The real strange thing that also bolsters all these rumors is that there is absolutely NO biographical information on him before his early 1970s days at WMCA, almost as if he were dropped here then by a time machine from the future or something......

  3. Is Michael Kay even "part Jewish" though? I've read he went to Catholic school, that he's a relative of (not Jewish) Danny Aiello, etc. but "Kay" is usually a Jewish last name in these parts and the rare "white dude" of his generation or younger who actually grew up in the Bronx who doesn't have an Italian or Irish sounding last name (though I guess "Kay" could be Irish) usually has the last name from a Jewish source. Just wondering.....
