Idina Menzel played the Witch in Wicked, and she would seem to make sense as a candidate -- smart, opinionated, but misunderstood and shunned by society because she's different to the point where people are afraid of her. But then again, a big plot point in the book is the fact that she's sworn off all ties to the various Oz religions and doesn't believe in "the Unnamed God," despite the urgings of others that she should accept him. Maybe Jews would horrify her.
