Profile: Alyson Hannigan

Yakov forgot to mention the forgotten 80s classic (Jon Lovitz!) "My Stepmother is an Alien"...

Suggestions by Teddy from Milwaukee, Seth from Paris, Lina from Florida, Stacie from Corona, CA, Gabriel from NY, and Heather from Springfield, MO.

  1. Is this woman really "Jew"? She has never spoken about being Jewish, never ever ever, so I don't know that she identifies as Jewish.

Maybe she does, because she was raised by her Jewish mother, who is now married to a Jewish man. But still. The silence is odd.

  2. Irish-American on her father's side and Jewish-American on her mother's side, Hannigan was raised in the Jewish faith.

  3. The IMDB isn't a reliable source. Anyone can add trivia to it.

I know that her mother is Jewish (and so is her step-father, but they married not that long ago). Whether she was raised Jewish, I can not say, since Alyson never does...

  4. Well, there we go: "Alyson was raised by her mother in Atlanta. The actress has never talked to the media about her religious upbringing or beliefs."

So, a case for Borderline Jew could be made, but since the father was out of the picture early, let's go with Jew, pending future evidence.

  5. I always liked that in American Beauty Jim's grandmother is upset that Jim isn't marrying a Jewish girl, but in real life Jim was played by a Catholic actor and his fiance was played by a Jew.

I actually meant American Wedding (the third American Pie movie).

  9. The IMDB isn't a reliable source. Anyone can add trivia to it. Oh and Wikipedia isn't? I'd trust IMDB over Wikipedia anyday!!!
