Jews in the News: One Nobel, THREE Jews

Wow. This one will be hard to top. The Chemistry Nobel is out today, and all three winners are Jewish: Israeli Arieh Warshel, Austrian / American Martin Karplus, and South African / British / Israeli Michael Levitt.

  2. 3 Jews in one day has been done before: 1988 (Physics), 2004 (Chemistry) and 2007 (Economics). Seven passports in one day, though? (3 US, 2 Israel, 1 UK, 1 Austria) Don't think so...

  3. Triple Crown! Trifecta! Hat trick! They can hate us but they can't keep us down!

  4. Karplus also has an Israeli connection - His daughter lives in Jerusalem and is a doctor

  5. BTW The yearly Jewish record is, I believe, 6.75 in 2004 (counting Jelinek as half and Wilzcek as quarter) followed by 6.5 in 1994 (with Selten providing the half).
