"Internet nexus of cultural Judaism" — Examiner.com
Most underrated director in Hollywood. Produced an enormous string of hits from White Christmas to Mildred Pierce, musical comedy to film noir. His accent kept him from the public ear. When he demanded a "poodle" for a dark street scene an aide scoured the lot to find a pedigreed dog. Curtiz went wild, insisting he had asked for a "puddle" in the street. Peter Lorre got even with him for his imperiousness and miked his trailer while he was bedding a starlet. Curtiz' cries of joy were heard on set. There are many more stories but no great bio.
