But from time to time... There are some wacky ones out there. Searches that make us stare at the computer screen, and rub our eyes in disbelief.
Now, one of our most popular searches of all time is Mel Gibson. Maybe people were wondering if he was a self-loathing Jew. Or maybe they wanted to see us write something funny about the antisemite. So we did. Sort of. Still, Mel is the exception to the rule. As we explained in the Michael Phelps profile, we like our subjects to have at least some kind of a Jewish connection to make it to the site. And we usually follow that rule. USUALLY. Just to follow up on this, we get all kinds of meshuggenah requests that make me wonder if people "get" what we're trying to do. We all KNOW Mel Gibson isn't Jewish, so why are people searching him? Rather than trying to reason it out, I've decided to simply label it as "they want us to write something funny about Mel Gibson," because any other reason is just too frightening for me to comprehend. Denial is bliss.
