Interestingly, Halpern actually is from the Washington, DC area; which for hockey is about as rare as having a Jewish player (metro NYC is about as far south as you see an NHL player's origin's, and even that is pretty rare; Massachusetts, upstate NY, upper Midwest and obviously Canada are a lot more common).
However, in the tradition of Jewish athletes (or athletes in general, or Jewish men in general), he married a very WASPy blonde bombshell, former Redskins cheerleader Kelly Cornwell. Let's hear it for shiksappeal!
