Is he really Jewish, though? Vladislav is such a Slavic name and Bykanov doesn't sound all that Jewish either. There are plenty of non-Jews who have immigrated to Israel from the former Soviet Union. Do you guys know for sure?
General comment to dear JONJ authors (I didn't find another channel for this). First, I'm an addicted reader of JONJ, I visit it regularly. Sometimes I get disapointed (not this time). For me, a 100% Jew and "Sabra" living in Israel, I find JONJ too "USA-centric". All those local celebs, TV show stars, politicians, sport heroes, who cares? OK, I have my fun reading those profiles, but can you please be more "Global"? After all, the jewish people is scattered all over the globe... Keep up the good work ("yishar koiach") -- Aaron

Actually, not 100% on this one. But for Israelis, we use "Jew, until proven goyishe" rule. Plenty of Jewish -slavs...

Addressed here :)
ReplyDeleteI honestly find it too Russo-centric, if anything.
ReplyDeleteWell, the site creators are from America..... :)
ReplyDeleteWhat could be more Jewish than displeasing people across the globe. Chalk this one up as another positive review, Gentlemen.
