Liberia - It is a nation built by the American Colonial Society in the early 19th century and settled by free former American slaves. The slave trade ended in 1808. There are those who feel that American blacks should support Liberia in much the same way as Jews support Israel because of its beginnings as a resettlement in the homeland.
