I see he died in 1975-- did he flee the country as soon as the Olympics were over? Or did he somehow make it through the camps during the War?
Somehow, he avoided camps (could be the elite athlete status). Emigrated to South Africa after the war.
Some sources say he's only half-Jewish (but still raised Jewish), if true that might be how he avoided the camps.......
