Since when is every last throwaway joke in The Simpsons considered canon? Also, I thought you'd have a Professor Frink profile long before Helen Lovejoy.
Or for that matter, Luke Perry, who is revealed to be Krusty's half-brother on his mom's side in the Krusty Komeback Special episode. Since we know Krusty is time and again the Simpsons' token Jew, Luke would have to be at least halachically Jewish in Simpsonverse.
