Hey look! The Artists category is almost at 20! Who said there are no Jewish artists?

Oh.

Well, to be fair, not all of the ones we profiled are Jews...

Pissarro was suggested by Frederick from NY, Aaron from Asheville, NC, Val from Redmond, WA, and Steve from California.

  1. In the past hundred years of largely non-representational visual art, there have been plenty of certifiably Jewish artists. Among the most notable painters (besides the ones you've profiled): Philip Guston, Lucian Freud, Lee Krasner, Frank Auerbach, Leon Kossoff, Barnett Newman, Adolph Gottlieb. Sculptor: Jacques Lipchitz. Architect: Louis Kahn. Not to mention other categories (comics, say, including Art Spiegelman and others).
