Lesser, who passed away yesterday, was 88.

    "That's right; NBC executives felt that the pilot was "too New York", and by "too New York" they did not mean "too Italian". So when the series started to air, concessions had to be made.". "Too Italian" Isn't NEW YORK the most Jewiest place on earth? Next to Israel of course. Never heard New York being "too Italian."
