Profile: Gertrude Stein

"Ask Jew or Not Jew" is back! Here are the previous installments.

Stein was suggested by Erik from Cranford, NJ, Jessica from Boston, Ari from Chicago, and David from Chicago.

  1. Without trying to deny her accomplishments as a writer I can add that Gertrude Stein was a fascist (or at the very least had fascist leanings) that supported and encouraged collaborationist activity during WWII (including praising Vichy leader Philippe P├ętain ) and suggested Adolf Hitler as a worthy candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. You may of course make of that what you will, but I would much prefer it if you didn’t make it a kvell score of 4. Just saying.

  2. Was not aware of this... thanks.
