Profile: Mr. Hooper

I'm not sure why I decided to write this profile when I did. It was something we'd been planning for a while. A day later, Mrs. Yakov says spontaneously: "Y'know who you should profile? Mr. Hooper from Sesame Street."

Must've been something in the water...

Mr. Hooper was also suggested by Michael from Toronto.

  1. Interesting side note, they eventually replaced Mr. Hooper with a new corner store owner and he was.....Asian (still on to this day). Ironic, since around that time period many Jewish convenience store owners retired or died out and were bought out by Asians. For example, my own father was a "Mr. Hooper" and retired/sold his store in the late 1980s to Koreans.

By the way the actor who played Mr. Hooper, Will Lee, was Jewish too.

  2. The guy they replaced Mr. Hooper with (who was black) died suddenly, as well. But if I remember correctly (and I was just growing out of the Sesame Street phase at the time), they just wrote him out, and made up some excuse that he "moved away with his parents" or something. It wasn't until years later and the age of IMDB that I found out the truth. I guess they didn't want to start a Mr. Hooper Curse.
