One of our most requested profiles: Howard from DC, Randy from LA, Loren from Las Vegas, Gary from DC, Daniels from Southern California, Linda from Bellevue, WA, Joel from Oakland, Mike from Raleigh, Meryl from Nyack, NY, Ilene from Naples, FL, Marianne from Bayside, NY, Ed from Scarsdale, NY, and Sam from Boynton Beach, FL.
Wow. This might be close to a record. Julianna Marguiles? One of our most requested profiles? Go figure...
Why Borderline? There are lots of non-religious Jews who get a "Jew" verdict. The "Christian path" is her mom's, not hers.
ReplyDeleteAnd she is totally right about the black hats, BTW.
The first quote, the reporter specifically said Marguiles "contradicts" her when asked if she was Jewish. Perhaps we should make that more clear.
ReplyDeleteNo arguments about the black hats.
Hmmm... come to think of it, switching to Jew.
ReplyDeleteGood move.
ReplyDeleteThe reporter simply shows the traditional American lack of understanding of Jewishness as an ethnicity, not merely a religion.
Sexist? by western values and standards perhaps.
ReplyDeleteAs any Hassidic Jew (or Jewess) would gladly explain to you, it's not about the women being lesser than the men, but being different.
About the other part of the qoute - terribly close-minded and shallow.
You and I may not agree with them, but there's a lot of beauty and wisdom in their way.
