Profile: Lise Meitner

A bit of a dilemma here; if a person coverts out of Judaism, more often than not they get a "Barely a Jew" verdict. After all, one makes a conscious decision to turn away from Judaism. But in the case of Meitner, as well as another German Jewish scientist, previously profiled Fritz Haber... Well, considering the time and place, we're gonna cut them a little slack. But just a little.

  1. Marie Curie aside, I wonder if being female factored into the Nobel committee's nonsense as much if not more than being Jewish. It's not like there's few Jewish Nobel Prize winners (though I don't know how many came after 1945).
