It's fiction, but you might want to check out Mordecai Richler's Solomon Gursky was Here for some Jewish Eskimoes. (It's a serious problem for them when Yom Kippur happens to fall in a season when, because of the latitude, there is no sundown.)
For that matter, you should check it out period. It's probably my single favorite novel -- I say that as an English professor who reads for a living -- and it's as overwhelmingly clever as anything I've ever read.

Definitely seems a worthy read. But don't worry, we found our Jewish Eskimo already... :)
