I read Kafka, you could have asked me :). If you read the Metomorphasis, I can't remember if they come outright and say they are a Jewish family, but the whole backdrop of the story is supposed to represent alienation, etc. The family I don't think was claimed Jewish in the tale, but they also weren't NOT claimed either (in the story, the father owned his own business at one point albeit I can't remember what) - Not so Anonymous
