Settling the Score: Slash

Oh, Internet, you fooled us this time. Slash of Guns N' Roses, often listed as half-Jewish, is not. I guess when your real name is Saul, people just assume...

We asked SLASH's spouse if SLASH was in fact Jewish, and she told us no. Not that SLASH has any problem with people pegging him as Jewish; but for accuracy, he is not. An Old Testament name is now always indicative of a particular faith.[1]

The profile has been fixed.

Thank you, Jesse from Brooklyn, for the correction!

  1. "the cross Slash is wearing in some of his videos should have been our first hint." Not necessarily, though Slash is NOT Jewish unfortunatley, a lot of people wear a cross and are Jewish (by birth, anyway.) These people were born Jewish and now wear the cross: Joey Kramer (drummer of Aerosmith), Joe Elliott (singer of Def Leppard), Bernard Summer (singer and guitarist of New Order), C.C. Deville (guitarist of Poison), Iggy Pop, Dee Snider (singer of Twisted Sister)... I could go on. So just because you wear a cross it doesn't mean you're not Jewish again. by birth anyway.

  2. Most people you're listed are not Jewish, by birth or otherwise, but go on...

  3. Hello again, alright then... what about the entire Depeche Mode band, esp. Dave Gahan (lead singer)?? And George Michael who you've already considered Barely a Jew, he wears a cross so that kind of counts to reiterate my statement. Dave Gahan especially! Born Jew wears cross, just like George Michael! And there's still! Still! Many, many more!

  4. George Michael was not born Jewish. He has very distant Jewish ancestry. Dave Gahan is not Jewish.

  5. Hmm... And none of you don't care about the: "And there's still! Still! Many, many more!" bit? Or have you just given up?

  6. How many profiles saying "this musician is not Jewish" do you need? Jebus.

  7. HA! Jebus! I like that. BUT! There's many, many, MANY more people who were born Jewish who still wear the kkkross! That's what I want to point out to you. Look okay what about Stephen Pearcy (lead singer) of the 80's rock band RATT. He was born Jewish and wears a cross and MORE IMPORTANTLY WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY: How many profiles saying "this musician is not Jewish" do you need?!?!?!?

  8. How do you know Pearcy was born Jewish? Where is the evidence?

  9. Well where's any of the evidence that you have about certain people say: Elvis? For example. That interfaithfamily.com is not a reliable source.

  10. Nate Bloom, who writes for InterfaithFamily, is a more reliable source than 99.9% of the Internet. He does an incredible amount of research.

  11. But... Er... Oh... Well that shut me up.

  12. Okay but before I go... And this you can NOT faulter me on. Look up Eric Singer (drummer) of Kiss, wikipedia, photo. He's wearing a cross. And he IS JEWISH! Prove me wrong silent Bob!

  13. For the 100th time, just because you think he is Jewish, or someone on the Internet thinks he is Jewish, doesn't make them so. Could he be? It's possible. Is he? It's not clear. If he is, would he be that RARE cross-wearing Jew? Sure, but he would be the first Jew of the supposed Jews you mentioned.

That being said, this is the last time I'm replying to this. I suggest you contact CrossWearingMusiciansWronglyBelievedToBeJewish.com.

I have the same problem as Dave Gahan,
Yet I there is truth to it, regardless of Dave Gahan thinks or says, the reason is because a large number of Russian jewish families immigrated to Ireland some time ago and I was informed of this by jewish people.
There is also the fact that the Moors invaded Ireland long long ago. So if you got all that contributing to your looks well its more than likely, not that it matters because its not whats on the outside that counts but rather whats on the inside. So we are watered down Yiddish people. Besides didn't God say "I am Who I am" ??? And I am just who I am.

  15. There is a negative/dark side to this phenomena. Especially if you live in an area where it is dominated with a large amount of German American families.
And! if there are police officers with German last names. A large potential for
discriminatory acts by people who are suppose to enforce and protect the people. Persecution once again! Believe me I have lived it! And there are some german americans still hunting, and they will pick you out of a crowd of people. However the majority of German Americans are good Christian people, BUT there are exceptions some are still living a screwed up philosophy of white supremacy. But I did experience a scary experience, knowing that I myself suspected of being of jewish descent and knowing that possibility does exist. If due to ancestry, it does make me a target. And it does suck being targeted as the weak one, which a lot of other types of people do this even in the workplace.

Is it true or made up or inaccurate? This of course concerning Dave Gahan, since of course he was also brought up in this "old" conversation.
