Yes, that's really what happened to Ms. Parker's ashes. If you read the story linked, you'll see it all turned out ok in the end. Still makes for one weird afterlife...

    Actually, the argument about Judaism not allowing organ donation is a big point of debate even among the Orthodox and there are now Jewish orgs (again, including the Haredim) encouraging organ donation

    Parker was her married name. Although briefly married she kept what she called "a good name."
