Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Xmas, goyim!
Suggestions from Valerie from Ontario, Sembler from Pennsylvania, Kevin from California, Nanetten from Largo, FL, Mila from Alexandria, Jack from LA, David from LA, Avi from Chicago, Pam from Florida, Lana from NY, Susan from California, Gord from Toronto, Shoshanah from LA, Don from LA, and Robin from New Jersey... Holy crap.
Josh Groban is an interesting case. His father is Jewish, yes, but his mother had a Jewish maternal grandfather of her own. So he is "5/8ths" Jewish ancestry, as well as definitely a Christian and not Jewish by Jewish law.
ReplyDeleteI love to note to people the fact that a surprising number of Holiday songs were written by Jews. I particularly get a kick out of noting that the songwriter half of the whole "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" concept is not only Jewish, but from my hometown (very few people know either fact!)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays all!
We discussed the classics here.
ReplyDeleteSo why does it matter if Josh is part Jewish? He's still a wonderful caring person with a beautiful voice. Why would anyone care about his heritage, that's his business. It doesn't matter who his ancesters were or where they came from, perhaps he gets some of his talent from them. Give him a break, he's a great human being.
ReplyDeleteOkay then.
ReplyDeleteHe has never said he is a Christian either. His brother Chris said on his blog that he doesn't believe in a big guy in the sky, so maybe Josh doesn't either.
ReplyDeleteYou know how Christians like to profess their religious beliefs? Josh Groban is very mum on religion. He did, however, tweet that he accidentally tebowed when he bent over to pick up his dog's poop. What does that tell ya?
ReplyDelete"When people tell me 'god has blessed with you with the gift of music' you're damn right I get offended. I did not practice hours a day for eighteen years to have my success attributed to a myth." Josh Groban...
