Soft-pedaling the Canadian involvement made the movie far less entertaining, I'd argue. Mounties with hockey sticks fighting off the airport pursuers! Come on!
Seriously, though, this made me mad. Canada has always been perfectly nice to us and helped in every way it could, but nooooo - it's all U-S-A all the way.
Alan Arkin has been around for many years and you didn't mention a thing. He began with The Russians Are Coming where he played a russian invading a small new england town. He usually got cast as a screaming nut. My favorite movie of his was The heart is a lonely hunter, an incredibly sad movie whre he play a deaf mute who helps out everyone in this small town but no one was there for him. Also, my first R rated movie Catch 22 where he played Yossarian.

Is was really all HOLLYWOOD all the way. If the movie peeps were all based in Vancouver instead of LA, that's where the credit would have gone.

ReplyDeleteSometimes we go the biography route. Sometimes we don't...
