I guess some people think that his surname, Waterston, originally is "Wasserstein". Exactly as Goldwasser became Goldwater!
He's also played Jews, including a rabbi in "Crimes and Misdemeanors".
He was nominated for Best Actor for playing a Jew in The Killing Fields... (I don't know if it was mentioned in the movie, but it was a real-life Jewish guy).Mother always thought "Nick from The Great Gatsby" was Jewish... (1974 version)...
