The Dell I bought in 2000 still runs... but that was before they started massive outsourcing. In seven years at my job, I'm on my fourth... or is it fifth. One way or another, Dells always break down. ALWAYS.

I agree with you on the shady electronic stores up broadway, but the exception to the rule is B&H. Openly run by Jews, openly not half bad. The laptop I'm on is a Dell and 5 years strong, but may be one of those last good ones and even then on its last legs.
